[your shade]: Even though this was all the rage in both the 1980s and 2012, I have always loved anything and everything neon, especially yellow. I find that the brighter the shade, the brighter the day. Not to mention, neon is a necessity in the rave culture.
[your mantra]: "This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving something I have traded for it. I want it to be a gain, not loss; good, not evil; success, not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it."
[you love]: Roller coasters
[you hate]: Mosquitos
[your purpose]: To live a life that glorifies God while finding the simplicities in life to be most adventurous.
[you believe]: in Jesus, the power of community, and human equality
[your influence]: My family—all of whom have challenged me in my faith, academics, future opportunities, and life experiences. Dad: inspiring, hard-working, practical, wise. Mom: strong, beautiful (inside and out), smart, goofy. Older Brother Brian: adventurous, determined, innovative, hilarious. Older Brother Daniel: intelligent, encouraging, thoughtful, hilarious.
[your escape]: As counter as this may be for some people, I run. I enjoy being able to drop everything that I am doing, go outdoors, and start running. This is a great time to spend in prayer as well.
[your origins]: Born right outside Washington D.C. in Alexandria, Virginia; grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. I have learned so much about growing up in a city that has a major historical background of civil rights. Even though we are decades past it, it is a still a great reminder that we are continually fighting for justice every single day.
[your fondest memory]: When my oldest brother proposed to his girlfriend at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, after traveling through Scotland and England as well. Being a part of that event was something my brothers (and future sister-in-law!) and I will never forget. That same day, I turned 22 and was able to celebrate raving the night away in Ireland.
[your childhood ambition]: In 2nd grade, I wrote a journal entry that I wanted to be a sumo wrestler when I grew up... that dream lasted about 48 hours.
[your most embarrassing moment]: I often forget these on the spot... usually, not on purpose.
[your perfection]: Having confidence in yourself to fully enjoy who God has made you to be
[your ideal dinner party]: Ellen DeGeneres, Kristen Wiig, and then receive a dance lesson from Beyoncé.
[your future self]: One who lives simply, loves deeply, and laughs greatly.
[your wildest dream]: To travel to different countries all over the world learning about their diverse cultures, while fully immersing myself in the day to day life of the people living there.
[your biopic star]: Sandra Bullock: a strong, independent gal who often snorts when she laughs in movies
[your dream destination]: New Zealand 100%
[your pet peeves]: Hiccups and close-talkers.
[your site]: National Geographic is the homepage for my laptop—I've always been a huge fan of NatGeo.
[your last purchase]: A sweater from Etsy with crazy colors and shapes, circa 1987.
[your location]: I am currently a senior at Samford University looking into missions opportunities overseas once I graduate. I'm also working part-time as an intern in youth ministry and loving every second of it.
[your surprise]: Many know I have a sleep disorder known as narcolepsy... Sometimes, it's a hard narc life (had to throw that pun in there, sorry). But, most people don't know I have a huge fear of public speaking despite my extremely extroverted self.
[you like]: My ability to make people feel at ease or welcome. Mostly through making a fool out of myself, especially at dance parties.
[you are]: ENTHUSIASTIC
KT, you are electric. You are brighter and bolder and more beautiful than any of your favorite neon colors, and this planet is a more brilliant place with you on it. I cannot emphasize how special you are or how integral your life will be to God's redemptive story. You have danced your way into the deepest affections of every person you've encountered. Thank you for the life in those blue eyes, the laughter in that megawatt smile, and the love in that gigantic heart. You are my hero, friend, and beloved one. Keep running the world, Beyonce Jr.
