the [story]: Liz went to college with my oldest brother and his (now) wife in the deep South, then their storylines took them all to Los Angeles, where they've lived for the past decade. She is not only a friend to them, but became one to the whole Wolf family. Liz and I have both ended up in London and, boy, is it great to have a little piece of my home and history with me!
your [soundtrack]: “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree. I laugh as I type this, but adore the song’s peppy anthem and find myself singing it often and have for years! “You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser. You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger. You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together. All I know, all I know, love will save the day.”
My soundtrack tends to be a melody of meaningful tunes I love, so different songs hold a special place in different seasons; but, guaranteed, the music is always on and the beat is loud.
your [script]: My favorites either make me let out a hysterical laugh or a horrified scream, usually thoughtless and never ever win a noble award. Miss Congeniality, The Devil Wears Prada, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Identity, Taken, What Lies Beneath...
your [rough draft]: There are so many, but to name a few: the Bible, Timothy Keller’s The Reason for God, Dr. Seuss.
your [shade]: RED – radiant, bold, strong, captivating.
your [inspiration]: Entrepreneurship. I am inspired by ideas, but especially the actions taken to achieve a reality for them. I love to dream with people, build, empower, encourage, endeavor alongside, and support.
your [mantra]: "I had found that the art of simplicity, simply means making peace of your complexity.” India Arie
your [purpose]: Honestly, I hope to know God’s Word, believe it and follow it. I believe He provides unfathomable opportunity when our heart’s desire is having a hopeful role in the fulfillment of sharing love, making a difference, and bringing peace.
you [love]: Coffee. Hospitality. People. Discipleship. Learning. Creativity. Inappropriate humor (well...it is so). Truth. Matching clothes hangers.
you [hate]: Used teabags. Unorganized spaees. Dirty vehicles. Limitations. Mismatch socks. Missed opportunity. The word maybe.
you [believe]: Community.
your [influence]: Those that have persevered, sacrificed, and graciously given to serve as mentors to me throughout my life. I know it is one of the most blessed details in my life.
you [admire]: Honesty.
your [escape]: Travel.
your [perfection]: Peace to all nations.
your [challenge]: Every idea starts out as a good one.
you want to [meet]: The British royal family. Why not? They live down the road and I often roam in their gardens.
your [proudest] moment: In recent years, becoming a foster mom and the little ones I have the opportunity to love.
your [humbles moment]: I am rarely embarrassed because I am always finding myself in awkward situations that would seem embarrassing but are an everyday normal for me. Story of my life.
you want to [be]: A game changer, difference maker, a legacy builder.
your [wildest dream]: To be given a role in life that I could not even fathom, one beyond even my wildest dreams even though they are already wild wild wild. Something beyond my imagination coming to be.
your [childhood ambition]: To be an ice skater. To this day, my childhood bedroom has a thinned and almost bare carpet area where I practiced my spins and triple (eh, single) axles.
your [heart] nationality: British.
your [biopic] star: I would wish for Sandra Bullock. She gets me!
your [dream] destination: South Africa!
your [vices]: Cake. Again, inappropriate humor. Pranking people.
your [last purchase]: Meters of hessian burlap fabric. I have creative ideas…
your [now]: London, England. Living the life of a charity worker/missionary at Kahaila Café and Luminary Bakery. I can honestly say I have never been so in my element. It’s unbelievably amazing!
your [secret]: I carry a couple of strongly introverted tendencies. Say whaaatttt?
you [like]: My depth. My many layers often surprise people, even after years of friendship.
you [are]: Inspirational. (I asked around!)
Liz, you are a trailblazer. Inspirational is an understatement to describe how you've thrown out the world's rule book in order to live by God's rules. You, more than most I've encountered, believe in your bones that God is able to do abundantly MORE than we can ask or imagine, and you have taken Him up on that promise! Your dreams are wild and big, but your faith is wilder and bigger still. You view this God-crafted planet and its people with the breathless wonder they deserve. You endlessly pursue adventure and awe and appreciation. By living life with the "least of these", you've put work boots on idealism and compassion and gone elbow-deep in the messy business of loving, serving, and restoring people in Jesus' name. What a gift it is to have a front row seat to such an extraordinary life. Be assured, I am taking notes! Keep rewriting those rule, my trailblazing girl!
